2018 Toyota Yaris debuts at Dubai Motor Show

Among all the “sustainable mobility” cars exclusively displayed at the Toyota stand in the 2017 Dubai Motor Show, the UAE dealer snuck in the redone 2018 Toyota Yaris hatchback alongside hybrids and fuel-cell cars.

In a way, it is fitting, as it’s been proven that a small petrol-powered car is just as clean as an expensive electric car such as any Tesla. Redesigned for 2018, the new Toyota Yaris has a completely new front bumper and radiator grille combination with a glossy finish on the mesh. The new projector headlights integrate daytime running lamps. A new rear design and optional 15-inch alloys complete the new look.

Other available features include a new “shark fin” roof antenna, fabric sports seats and paddle shifters. Other changes include redesigned rear seats for increased shoulder space. Cabin noise is reduced as well.

Under the hood, the 2018 Yaris hatchback comes with two carryover engine options, a 98 hp 1.3 litre and a 105 1.5-litre, both with a “multi-drive transmission” which essentially means a CVT automatic.

A sedan version should debut soon as well, since it has already been shown in other Asian markets, badged as a Toyota Vios.
