2018 DS 7 Crossback SUV revealed

Hoping to bite a bit of the premium car market pie, Citroen’s luxury sub-brand DS launched a new model at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Hoping to leverage the immense popularity for crossovers in the market, the new DS 7 Crossback SUV took the stage with a handsome design and a flurry of features up its sleeve.

The muscular front fascia of the DS 7 Crossback features a pair of active LED “Vision” headlights that is seamlessly connected to the hexagonal grille by a lot of chrome. The rear gets a pair of 3D headlamps which is flanked by more chrome. Inside, the DS is loaded with equipment.  Two 12-inch screens display all the information regarding navigation. Multimedia interface, MirrorScreen and DS-Connect functions. If the “La Premiere” special edition is opted for, unique features like three new body colors – Cumulus Grey, Pearl White and Perla Nera Black, will be added along with contrasting Nappa Leather upholstery for the interior can be added.

To get in tune with the future, the DS 7 Crossback will also come with a semi-autonomous driving feature called DS Connected Pilot. It will be accompanied by night vision, DS Park Pilot and active-scan suspension that will review the on and off-road conditions to prep the car accordingly.

The DS 7 Crossback will source its power from a range of engines which will include a plug-in hybrid as well. The hybrid will be good for a combined output of 300 hp and will be mated to an 8-speed transmission. The electric-only range of the DS 7 is a respectable 59 km and the battery pack will take 4.5 hours to charge if a 6.6-kW charger is used. The petrol options range from a 180 hp diesel unit to a 225 hp petrol unit with a few stops in between. A 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic gearbox can be paired to any of these engines.

The DS 7 Crossback will go on sale by the end of this year. Whether the DS will be offered in the UAE, Qatar or other GCC countries are not yet known.
