New Peugeot pickup is called Pick Up

Peugeot hasn’t been an active player in the pickup segment since the demise of their 207-based Hoggar pickup (which we didn’t get in the GCC) three years ago. But now they are back in business with a new pickup named in the most literal way possible. It’s called the Peugeot Pick Up.

Just like the name, the design of the Peugeot Pick Up is also straightforward and purpose-oriented. The aesthetics are directly lifted from the new version of the Zhengzhou Nissan Auto (ZNA) Rich pickup truck that is already on sale in the UAE. The basic exterior can be given a tiny bit of zing by going for the top end model which comes with some shiny chrome bits. Photos of the interior are not out yet, but judging from the total picture, it shouldn’t be far off from the interior of the ZNA Rich.

The Peugeot Pick Up is powered by a 2.5-litre turbodiesel that churns out 115 hp and 280 Nm of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox channels this power to either a 4X2 or a 4X4 system. The Pick Up also has ground clearance that varies from 210mm to 215mm. The maximum payload it can ferry around in its 1.4-metre long and 1.39-metre wide bed is 815 kg.

The Peugeot Pick Up will go on sale in Africa in September exclusively as a double cab. Peugeot hasn’t made it clear if the Pick Up is Middle East-bound.
