McLaren 600LT debuts as aggressive version of 570S

McLaren bumps up the count of their Long Tail models with the release of 2019 McLaren 600LT based on the 570S Supercar.

Staying true to its Long Tail name (if only for marketing purposes), the carbon fibre body of the McLaren 600LT is only 74mm longer than the 570S, far shorter than the real McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail models from two decades ago.

The frontal design of the 600LT builds on the familiar face of the 570S while at the rear, it gets top-mounted exhaust tips vaguely similar to the pattern in the McLaren Senna hypercar. A new front splitter, new side sills, and a longer diffuser and fixed wing at the back give the 600LT good aerodynamics as well as a unique identity. Opt for the carbon fibre roof and front fenders, a total of 95.98 kilos will be slashed dropping the total weight of the car to 1,247 kg.

Carbon fiber seats from the P1 Hyper Car comes with the 600LT while the even lighter carbon fibre seats from the Senna can be ordered as an option.

Powering the 600LT is the same 3.8-litre biturbo V6 engine from the 570S but the power and torque figures get a bump. The power goes up to 592 hp and the torque soars to 620 Nm. This allows the 600LT to have a power to weight ratio of 474 hp/ton if the lightweight parts are added. These sound like impressive numbers, but performance figures are not out yet. We at least expect it to be faster than the 570S which accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 3.2 seconds.

McLaren does not mention any numbers when it comes to the production of the 600LT but it does say that the production will be “strictly limited” and will go on for 12 months. Expect some to come to the UAE and other GCC countries.
