2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe revealed
The launch of the BMW 8-Series Coupe last year was followed by the 8-Series Convertible, and then by the M8. With all that under their belt, BMW has decided to add two more doors to the lineup with the 2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe.
The Gran Coupe is about 9-inches longer than the coupe, obviously to accommodate the extra row of seats. The width has grown by 1.2-inches as well. The design at the front and rear are the same as that of the BMW 8 Series Coupe, tailored to the profile of a sedan.
Under the hood of the 8-Series Gran Coupe, the twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 sends 523 hp and 749 Nm of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox. This powertrain is available in the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe variant.
In the smaller 840i and 840i xDrive variants, a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo petrol engine powers it. This engine produces 335 hp and 498 Nm.
The 2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe will enter production by July and will start to arrive at the dealerships in the US by September. A UAE, Saudi Arabia and GCC launch should soon follow.
