2020 Renault Captur gets bigger

The all-new 2020 Renault Captur has broken cover and it is now built on the French manufacturer’s new CMF-B platform. The new Captur gets slightly bigger, along with 85-percent new parts from its predecessor. Renault claims it is now lighter, more aerodynamic, quieter and more fuel-efficient.

The exterior of the new Captur gets the new trademark front with the C-shaped daytime running lamps. A wider new grille sits between the LED headlights. It is now 11 cm longer than the previous generation and results in a 2 cm longer wheelbase. Optional equipment includes different colour schemes, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and sunroof.

The interior now gets the big 9.3-inch multimedia screen on the gauge cluster panel. For the instrument panel, the base model gets a 7-inch screen while the higher models get the 10.2-inch tablet-like screen. Underneath it are thankfully traditional air-conditioner control knobs, which some manufacturers tend to put on the touchscreen nowadays. The boot space has also increased to 536 litres which Renault claims is the best in its class.

Under the hood, the Captur gets a turbocharged 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre engines with horsepower ranging from  100 to 155 hp. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. There is a 6-speed manual gearbox option as well but we are pretty sure it won’t make to this side of town.

The new Renault Captur will arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries sometime next year, possibly as a 2021 model year.

  1. It is great!I hope i will get one day!

  2. Sounds like a complete makeover.
Good news as my Captur was great to drive but lacked power and plagued by a judder clutch. (was due for its 3rd before I got rid.) 1.5 media nav.

  3. To Europe many manufacturers they offer dual clutch transmission, in GCC they make us pay same price and offer third grade CVT transmission. Which is very slow response and does not match with turbo engine.
