2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR arrives with better performance

While performance SUVs make no sense as a concept, pairing powerful engines with bulky bodies, they sell well enough for the Jaguar F-Pace SVR to continue into 2021, with better performance and improved aerodynamics.

Jaguar’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 is a staple in all JLR performance models, and in the 2021 F-Pace SVR, it pumps out 20 Nm of torque more. The output now stands at 700 Nm, while the power remains the same at 550 hp. The eight-speed automatic transmission is borrowed from the bonkers Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sedan that no one has seen since its debut.

The 2021 F-Pace SVR gets a Dynamic Launch function which along with the higher torque slashes 0.3 seconds from the 0-100 kph time. The top speed is also bumped up to 287 kph, 4 kph more than before. Adding to the powertrain updates, the 2021 F-Pace SVR gets updated power steering and improved brakes. The adaptive damping setup is tweaked to provide a smoother low-speed ride.

The looks did not change much from the outgoing model. The headlights are slightly more narrow and the front bumper gets a few tweaks and that’s about it. Though the changes are not much, they end up reducing the front-end lift by 35 percent while also improving the cooling of the engine and brakes. Inside, a new 11.4-inch touchscreen sits in place of the old 10-inch unit. The gear shifter gets a new design. The paddle shifters are now made out of a zinc alloy.

The small facelift of the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR follows the chain of recently updated JLR vehicles. The price for the performance SUV is not out yet, but it should be similar to the outgoing model.
