Kia EV6 debuts electric model with new brand styling

Kia’s design language revolving around the tiger nose grill transformed Kia cars from being odd-looking copies of other cars to genuinely attractive machinery. Now, 13 years into the life of this design, Kia has now revamped it for the new era. The change in the design language succeeds the launch of their new logo and it debuts on an entirely new offering. This is Kia’s first battery-electric vehicle, Kia EV6.

The EV6 is a mix of crossover design cues and hatchback stance with some elements of a coupe thrown in. The front end of the EV6 is unlike any Kia on the road, and yes, the tiger-nose grill is gone. Instead of that, a new “Digital Tiger Face” comes in and it is combined with the new Kia logo. The headlamps are sleek units that house LEDs facilitating the fancy lighting patterns that were teased prior to the reveal.

The side profile is unconventional with a long coupe-like rake at the rear. The LED tail lamp unit is long, very long, extending from the left fender to the right. Kia’s new design philosophy is dubbed “Opposites United,” drawing inspiration from the contrasts found in our natural environment apparently.

The interior design also gets a complete revamp. A large curved screen adorns the dashboard, spanning from the instrument cluster all the way to the centre console.

The Kia EV6 will be fully revealed soon and that is when we will get to know the electricals under the hood, or wherever it is. It remains to be seen if Kia’s electric offering makes it to the Middle East, where the dealers have been traditionally conservative with their offerings.
