2022 Lexus ES gets a subtle refresh

The Lexus ES is the Japanese brand’s only answer to the Mercedes Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series sedans, now that the sportier GS sedan has been killed off. For the 2022 model year, Lexus has refreshed the ES to compete better with its more technology-laden rivals.

The visual updates on the 2022 Lexus ES are quite minimal. The changes are present on the grill, which now gets an updated pattern. The F Sport trim still gets its own special grill though. The headlamps sport a new bi-LED design. The lower trims will now come with 17-inch wheels and a couple of new body colour options are added in. The interior of the 2022 Lexus ES gets a proper touchscreen which can still be controlled via the remote touch feature as well.

Safety gets a light value addition too. Lexus Safety System +2.5 includes a camera and radar for frontal crash detection, automatic braking, and collision warning systems. There is a Pre-Collision System that can now detect vehicles and pedestrians during turns as well as a new emergency steering assist feature. The Dynamic Cruise Control, as well as the lane-departure system, are also slightly updated for better effectiveness.

On the powertrain front, there are no significant updates, and the 2022 Lexus ES soldiers on with the current lineup of powerplant. From this model, the ES 300h will be made available with an F-Sport trim that adds sportier design elements. The ES350 F Sport gets a new Dynamic Handling Package that adds Sport+ and Custom Drive modes. The Adaptive Variable Suspension of the ES now comes with higher adjustment capabilities.

The price of the 2022 Lexus ES is not made public yet. But, with such minimal changes, it is likely not going to cost much higher than the current Lexus ES’ price tag.
