2022 BMW X3 and X4 get their mid-cycle refresh

2022 BMW X3 and X4 get their mid-cycle refresh

The current generation BMW X3 and X4 are in the middle of their lifecycle and the German manufacturer gives them the timely mid-cycle refresh. The 2022 BMW X3 and X4 get updated designs with a larger kidney grill, more features, and better specs. Oh, and the hot X3 M and X4 M get updated too.

The exterior updates on the 2022 BMW X3 and X4 include thinner headlights, a larger kidney grill and revamped bumpers. The spicy M models get more aggressive styling with a unique grill and bumper design. To look hot on a budget, an optional M Sport package adds similar styling updates to the regular X3 and X4 as well.

The interior is the stage for similar subtle updates. There is a 10.25-inch infotainment display in the X3, which can be upgraded to a 12.3-inch unit by opting for a Live Cockpit Professional pack. This also adds another 12.3-inch display, working as the driver information display. The large screens are offered as standard with the X4. The M models receive their special treatment in the form of special M seats, illuminated M logos, unique M steering wheel, and more.

Several engines power the crossover twins, the smallest of which is a 2.0-litre unit in X3 sDrive, X3 xDrive30i and X4 xDrive30i. This engine endows 248 hp as well as 349 Nm of torque. More powerful variants, X3 M40i And X4 M40i get a turbocharged six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine assisted by a 48V mild-hybrid technology. This combination produces 382 hp and 500 Nm. These warm models take just over 4.6 seconds to run from 0 to 100 kph.

The full-blown X3 M and X4 M models churn out the same output as the outgoing models, 473 hp in the standard guise and 503 hp in the competition models. The torque outputs however get a raise, now at 619 Nm and 649 Nm, for the regular and competition models respectively. With this additional oomph, the X3 M and X4 M can hit 100 kph from 0 in just over seconds while the competition hits the same mark in a little over 3.8 seconds. All 2022 X3 and X4 models get an eight-speed gearbox.

Expect the new models to quietly show up on UAE and GCC showroom floors by winter this year.
