2024 Ford Mustang enters 7th generation, with V8 and manual

If there is ever a club for the most elite motorcar nameplates, Ford Mustang would be running its head committee. The iconic pony car has formed a remarkable aura around it over six generations and many decades. The 2024 Ford Mustang is ready to take this to the seventh generation. Fret not, it still gets a V8 and a manual tranny.

The design of the muscle car is mostly an evolution of the existing model. It squints a bit more at the front, with its thinner LED headlamps flanking the grill. The rear end is also updated but it retains a lot of design characteristics of the existing model. There are 12 different wheel designs to choose from. There is also a Bronze Design Series, which ditches the regular black finish for the badges and wheels for a Bronze hue. The bigger changes though can be seen once you open the doors.

The interior design is different from the current model and the 2024 Ford Mustang uses better-quality materials. There are multiple customization options here too. Customers can choose from a list of seat upholsteries, seat belt textures and colors, and more. And like many modern cars, two large touchscreen takes center stage in the interior. They run the latest Sync 4 system, along with Unreal Engine. This gives the 2024 Ford Mustang’s infotainment system crisp graphics and an impressive frame rate.

The engine list of the 2024 Ford Mustang may look familiar. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost and 5.0-litre Coyote V8 are the options here, just like the existing model. But Ford says there is more than what meets the eyes or paper in this case. The EcoBoost is apparently an all-new unit while the V8 has been reworked for the 2024 Ford Mustang. But we cannot confirm that yet, as Ford has not announced the power and torque figures.

Transmission options get a shuffle though. The base EcoBoost engine will no longer come with the six-speed manual transmission. Only 10 percent of the previous generation’s buyers had opted for this and it makes sense to drop it from the lineup. This engine will get the 10-speed automatic paired to it. But the V8 GT however, will have both options.

Other options for the 2024 Ford Mustang include a new remote engine revving feature which as the name suggests, lets the user start and rev the engine remotely. There is a new electronic drift brake as well, which looks like a mechanical hand brake but with a lot more computing added to it. Ford still has a cover on how it functions though.

The 2024 Ford Mustang is definitely a step ahead of the muscle car. It may not be a world apart from the model it replaces but this should be sufficient to keep it powering through, for a few more years. It is also heart-warming to see that the Mustang keeps the V8 and the manual box alive, for its seventh generation.
