2022 Ford Mondeo previews the fifth-generation sedan only for China

A couple of years ago, Ford announced that they will ditch cars from their line-up to focus only on SUVs. They did keep their word. Well, mostly as they still sell sedans and hatchbacks in some markets and China is one of them. Now they have revealed the 2022 Ford Mondeo for that market, and it is a gorgeous piece of art.

There is no getting away from the fact that the new Ford Mondeo is quite handsome. The sedan draws its shape based on Ford’s Progressive Energy in Strength design language, also seen on the Ford Evos, Ford Equator, and Ford Equator Sport – three other China-only Fords.

The front looks almost the same as the Evos with a large grill and two headlamps winging out of it on either side. A full-width LED light gives it a signature look. The roofline follows a slope all the way to the rear and the door handles pop out of the bodywork when needed.

Even though Ford is not ready to share the details under the hood, the ‘245’ badge at the rear gives some details away. It may be hinting at the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine with a 245 hp state of tune. The power may be handled by an 8-speed transmission.

The fourth-gen Mondeo is marching towards its end in the remaining European markets. But Ford has no plans yet to introduce this new model anywhere apart from China. Unfortunately this brilliant looking car will most likely not make it to the UAE or other GCC countries.
