2009 Volkswagen Tiguan

The Tiguan is VW's new "crossover" 4WD model. Small in size and conservative in design, the Tiguan is being embarrassingly marketed as the "GTI of SUVs" in some places. Three different trim levels include the Trend&Fun, the Sport&Style and the Track&Field, the latter of which is supposedly tuned for offroading, given its underbody plates and higher front bumper, though there is no low-range gearing for the 4Motion all-wheel-drive vehicle. There are two turbocharged engines, both 2.0-litre and in different states of tune. The engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic that can hold gears in offroad conditions, later replaced by a 7-speed DSG automanual in 2011. The Tiguan has seating for five, with a split-folding 60:40 rear bench, and has multiple position settings for the seatback.
