Overview
The new-for-2010 Camaro, which more or less looks just like the overexposed prototype, took the car world by storm on launch. Powered by a 3.6-litre V6 or a 6.2-litre V8, it rides on a shortened rear-wheel-drive Lumina SS platform, with four-wheel independent suspension and 2+2 seating. The Camaro comes in V6 LT and V8 SS trims, with an RS package adding some appearance enhancements. The V6 is only available with a 6-speed paddle-shifted automatic in the GCC. The SS gets a choice of two V8 engines, each customised for use with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The automatic V8 features cylinder deactivation to improve fuel economy. In 2011, the V6 got a mild power upgrade. StabiliTrak traction control and front-side airbags are standard, while Brembo brakes are available on the SS version. Check all a/c components, as some had issues with compressor issues, warped belts, condenser leaks or blower fan squeaks, though not all issues affect all owners.
