BMW 5-Series GT 2013 Overview

Expanding their midsize 5-Series line-up, the 5-Series Gran Turismo is supposed to be a coupe-like crossover vehicle that aims to appeal to markets where the 5-Series wagon is ignored. The 'F07' platform features a unique "bi-modal" trunk which may be opened in traditional sedan fashion, or the entire hatch may open like a hatchback. Various new BMW tech features debuted in the GT that appear in the next 5-Series range, such as four-wheel multilink suspension, standard 8-speed automatic gearboxes and turbo engines, namely the 3.0-litre inline-6 for the 535i GT and the 4.4-litre V8 for the 550i GT. Depending on trim level, the 4-seater GT can be outfitted with features such as leather upholstery, 4-zone automatic a/c, Bluetooth, navigation, USB/iPod port, CD/MP3 stereo with 80 GB hard disc, rear DVD entertainment system, heads-up display, panoramic glass roof, adaptive cruise control with stop-&-go feature, blind spot monitor, lane departure warning system, night vision, active steering, rear-wheel steering, rearview camera, side-view cameras, parking sensors, run-flat tyres and keyless button-start, among others. Also included are various selectable driving modes, adjustable air suspension, stability control and numerous airbags. The niche vehicle is almost as long as the 7-Series and has as much headroom as the X5.
