The Nissan Altima, released GCC-wide for 2005, is a roomy and practical midsize sedan, competing with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry with slightly more sporty handling and a little more extrovert styling. The Altima however sits at the top of the class in terms of available horsepower and interior room. Though the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder, with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes, is enough for most people, it is the 3.5-litre V6, also with a choice of manual or automatic, that makes the Altima a cheap alternative to pricey and slow front-wheel-drive sports sedans from Volvo and Audi. The Altima delivers stunning acceleration when optioned with the V6, which is essentially the same engine used in the Nissan 350Z. The Altima also boasts a big interior.
