The Sierra range is GMC's line of full-size pickup trucks, and covers everything from passenger pickups to big honking diesel monsters with six wheels and more. The Sierra 1500 pickup is the identical twin of the second-best selling truck in the United States, namely the Chevy Silverado. The Sierra 1500 light pickup version is about the only vehicle that you can drive from this range without offending everyone around you with your show of excess, while the Sierra 1500 HD trucks should best be used if you work at a place that requires regular hauling. The Sierra is available in three cab lengths, 2-door short cab, 3 or 4-door extended cab, and front-hinged 4-door crew cab. Three cargo beds are available, including a short box, a standard box, and a long box. The short box is only available with the extended or crew cab, and is the only option on the 4-door. Engines include a 4.3-litre V6, a 4.8-litre V8 and a 5.3-litre V8, all with 4-speed automatics. A luxury Sierra Denali version was introduced in 2009, with a 6.2-litre V8 mated to a 6-speed automatic. All versions come in either rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive form. Along with leather and special exterior trim, the Denali gets standard features such as Bluetooth, power-adjustable pedals, auto-dimming inside mirror, dual-zone auto a/c, rain-sensing wipers, remote starting system, rear parking sensors, MP3-capable stereo with a six-disc in-dash CD changer, Bose premium speakers, rear-seat audio, power-sliding rear window, navigation, sunroof and an optional DVD rear-seat entertainment system. Safety features include at least front airbags and ABS brakes, while higher trim levels get side-curtain airbags and stability control, among other options.
