The new-for-2008 i10 is an overlapping replacement for the anonymous Atos Prime supermini, boasting sleeker styling but retaining its predecessor's geekiness. Built in India to avoid increasing Korean labour costs, the i10 is only available with a 1.1-litre 4-cylinder, mated to a manual or automatic gearbox. The no-frills base model comes with 14-inch steel wheels, air-conditioning, body-coloured bumpers, central locking, chrome radiator grille, electric power steering, front electric windows, and a stereo with six speakers. More available features include a CD player with MP3 compatibility and iPod input, dual front airbags, body-coloured door handles, body-coloured mirrors, driver's seat height adjustment, electric door mirrors, all-electric windows, front fog lights, remote locking, seatbelt reminder, 15-inch alloy wheels and an underfloor rear luggage compartment. This is about as cheap as it gets for a decent new car in the GCC market. Although it is possible to go even cheaper, the i10 represents a good balance of modernity without the appearance of being a product for basic motoring.
