Volvo V40 2013 Overview

The Volvo V40 is the Swedish company's latest hatchback offering, replacing the C30 with this new 5-door model. The base engine offered here, for the V40 T4, is a turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic. The other version is the V40 T5, fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-litre 5-cylinder for the GCC market. Available with either engine, variants beyond the regular V40 include the V40 R-Design model with a sporty body kit and unique wheels, as well as the V40 Cross Country model with faux skid-plates and a slightly-raised suspension. All versions are front-wheel-drive, although the Cross Country can be had with all-wheel-drive as well. Features include fuel-saving auto start-stop tech, power windows, electric mirrors, CD/MP3 stereo, cloth or leather upholstery, 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels and other basics, with options such as HID headlights, sunroof, navigation and all that. Safety standards are always high in Volvos, and the V40 is no exception. Safety features, aside from the standard front and side-curtain airbags, include a world-first pedestrian airbag, blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping aid with haptic auto steering, pedestrian detection with auto braking, and a Park Assist Pilot system that makes parallel parking easy.
