Finally making its official debut in the GCC, the rally-bred Subaru Impreza WRX STI landed for the 2008 model year with a hatchback-only body and no warranty. By 2010, it could finally be bought with a warranty. The sedan came for 2011. The standard engine is a 2.5-litre turbocharged and intercooled horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder, mated to a 6-speed manual and Subaru's 'symmetrical' all-wheel-drive system. In 2011, a minor range-wide facelift debuted along with the sedan, as well as a 5-speed automatic option. An SI-DRIVE system offers three modes, namely Intelligent, Sport, and Sport Sharp, with the first mode reducing power and improving fuel economy. The 'Driver Controlled Center Differential,' also known as DCCD, has three automatic modes in addition to allowing manual torque-split adjustment. The VDC stability control system can be left on, fully turned off, or set to a sport mode. Features include ABS-assisted Brembo brakes, LED tail lamps, torque-sensitive limited slip differential, 18-inch alloy wheels, front airbags, side-curtain airbags, keyless entry with starter button, retractable headlight washers, common power accessories and a CD stereo, with options such as Recaro sport seats and navigation. However, options lists keep changing every year, depending on what the dealers choose to bring in.
