BMW 6-Series Coupe 2012 Overview
The BMW 6-Series has been redesigned for the 2012 model year. The Convertible was first launched in the first half of 2011, with the Coupe coming later in the year. The 4-seater 2-door 6-Series can be had in 640i form with a 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder, or in 650i form with a 4.4-litre turbocharged 4.4-litre V8. Both come with a 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel-drive. Aside from the usual power accessories, leather upholstery, CD/MP3 stereo and other common items, available features include Surround View cameras, night vision with pedestrian recognition, Park Assistant, heads-up display, BlackBerry smart phone access via iDrive, Bluetooth interface for phone and e-mails, navigation, turning HID headlights, adaptive cruise control, run-flat tyres, 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels, electronic parking brake, power-adjustable seats with optional ventilation, active steering, standard Drive Dynamic Control to choose from a range of pre-programmed suspension settings, Adaptive Drive for stability, multiple airbags, ABS, traction control, tyre-pressure monitor and more.

| Known Problems | In the US, there were recalls for electric water pump which could overheat and cause a fire, and for the loose wiring can cause the engine to stall or melt and leak fuel. Few owners have reported jerky 1st to 2nd gear change but that is considered normal, a weak battery can cause random warning messages, and few interior plastics make creaking noises. Some owners suggest shorter engine oil change interval to avoid problems with VANOS system. |
