Chrysler Crossfire 2004 Overview

The first product from the takeover of Chrysler by Daimler-Benz was the Crossfire, a stylish sports coupe that rides on the old Mercedes-Benz SLK platform, while sharing many of its components with other Mercedes models, and built in Germany too. The Crossfire has a long hood with streaks on it, while the fastback roofline ends with a "boat tail." The car also has a centre spine that runs the length of the car, from the grille in front to between the dual, centre-mounted rear exhausts. The Crossfire's stance is enhanced by rear tyres that are larger than those in front, and by its broad shoulders, tall body sides and minimal glass area. The car's central spine reappears as an element in the car's interior design. The car's two bucket seats are trimmed in two-tone leather. Gauges have white-on-black faces with metallic bezels and chrome trim rings, while the centre console has a metallic look too. Other features for the two-seat coupe include a speed-activated rear spoiler and six-speaker audio system with dual subwoofers. By now, it would seem like the Crossfire is more of a design exercise than an attempt to build a true sports car. This is confirmed by the old 3.2-litre V6 that doesn't pull the car with enough verve.

Chrysler Crossfire 2004 Reliability & Resale Value

Reliability
Resale Value
Known Problems Mechanically reliable thanks to proven Mercedes-Benz platform. Lots of electrical niggles such as random stereo issues, non-working rear spoiler, non-working roof on convertibles, and many smaller faults with lighting, warning beepers, keyless entry remote and battery. The transmission solenoid leaks fluid, causing the "check engine" light to come on, and requiring replacement of the solenoid. Leaks on front-right corner of the transmission can cause electrical issues too.
