The Malibu nameplate returns to the GCC for 2010, after almost a decade, although it wasn't missed at all. Unlike its predecessor however, the new Malibu is a highly-competitive entry in the midsize sedan segment, with a clean-sheet design and good features. The new Malibu is a mainstream front-wheel-drive sedan, but aims slightly higher with its chrome trimmings and colourful interior options. Powered by either a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder or a 3.6-litre V6, both are available with a 6-speed automatic offering manual-shift capabilities. Unique features for this segment include standard 18-inch wheels, optional two-tone interior colour schemes, and lots of extra noise-reducing features that make the Malibu's cabin quieter than most. Other features include a CD stereo, power windows, electric mirrors, cloth or leather upholstery, manual or digital a/c, and options such as sunroof and cruise control, among others. The V6 is identified by its front foglights and dual exhaust tips. Safety is prioritised with six standard airbags, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, four-wheel-disc brakes, ABS and stability control.
