The Volkswagen Teramont is the German brand's first entry into the seven-seater SUV market. While it is longer than the Touareg, it is not their flagship SUV. It is built in the United States and sold as the Atlas over there. VW felt the demand for SUVs and 7-seaters in this region was healthy enough to be introduced here. Teramont continues the tradition of naming their SUV line-up starting with a "T". Under the hood, the crossover has two engine options. The standard engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit, which is available in FWD and AWD, while there is the optional 3.6-litre V6 motor available only as AWD. Largely optional features include cloth or leather upholstery, CD/MP3 stereo, navigation, Bluetooth phone, intelligent keyless entry, starter button, panoramic sunroof, real wood trim, power-folding rear seat, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane departure warning system, blind-spot monitor, pre-crash system with full automatic emergency braking, ABS, a full set of front and side airbags, parking assist with four cameras, LED tail lamps, LED headlights, power-adjustable front seats with memory, seat heaters and a choice of 18-inch, 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels.
