GMC Terrain arriving in UAE and GCC by 2009 end

GMC has announced that the all-new Terrain crossover is right on track and is due to be in GMC Middle East showrooms in the fourth quarter of this year.

“The all-new Terrain encompasses all GMC’s innovation and engineering history in a highly capable, fuel efficient and attractive package. The new crossover is yet another example of how GMC is catering to changing market conditions and customer demands, blending purposeful technologies with safety and comfort, all under its Professional Grade brand ethos”, said Johnny Amiouni, Marketing Manager, GMC and Chevrolet SUVs in the GCC, based in UAE.

On the exterior, the Terrain is characterised by bold styling, an athletic stance with muscular fender flares over chrome-clad wheels and a capable front end appearance highlighting the tailored toughness of GMC’s brand aesthetic.

An industrial sculpture influenced interior has inviting qualities in the form of quality materials, ambient lighting, exceptional comfort and intuitive controls.

A comprehensive list of standard and available features includes rear view camera, programmable power rear liftgate, remote vehicle start, USB connectivity, MP3 playback and rear-seat passenger entertainment systems.

Storage is plentiful in the form of numerous compartments throughout the inside of the Terrain as well as a generous rear cargo area that offers 895 litres of space.

A new, 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower that features direct injection is expected to deliver best-in-segment highway fuel economy of 7.8 L/100 Km. Maximum fuel efficiency is achieved in part with an “ECO” mode that is activated via a console-mounted button. When engaged, it lowers the torque converter lockup speed to 1,125 rpm to help save fuel on models equipped with the 2.4-litre engine.

Also available will be a 3.0-litre DOHC direct injected V6 engine delivering an estimated 264 horsepower. Both engines are mated to efficiency-enhancing six-speed automatic transmissions and offer a refined, confident driving experience.

Driver and passengers of both Terrain models can also be sure of a quiet ride at any speed, thanks to GM’s first application of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology, in which the speakers emit sound waves to counteract any detected booming sounds inside the vehicle.

Segment-best safety is also anticipated in the Canadian-built Terrain, with features that include four-wheel disc brakes with StabiliTrak electronic stability control and traction control, as well as six standard air bags: dual frontal air bags; head curtain side air bags and pelvic/thorax seat-mounted side air bags.

“The new Terrain further underlines GM’s commitment to GMC as one of its core brands and with the blend of qualities evident in this new crossover, the strength of this commitment to GMC and its customers is clear to see,” joked Amiouni.
