VW Scirocco R debuts at Nurburgring

VW Scirocco R
Choosing the upcoming 24-hour race event at the Nürburgring, Volkswagen is presenting the new VW Scirocco R for the first time.

Approximately one year after the market launch of the 3rd-generation Scirocco, Volkswagen is presenting the more powerful R model, with a turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-litre “TSI” engine, putting down 265 hp and 350 Nm of torque through the front wheels only, with the help of a new front-axle XDS differential lock.

The design of the Scirocco R is largely based on the Scirocco GT24, a track-only racing model. There are large air intake openings in the front bumper, an integrated front spoiler, bi-xenon headlights, roof-edge spoiler, a black diffuser and chrome tailpipes for the dual exhaust system, with side skirts and 18-inch alloy wheels.

It is unknown whether Volkswagen Middle East will release a GCC-spec Scirocco R, but the underwhelming standard version is already on sale in the UAE and elsewhere. Keep track of local updates in the VW Scirocco buyer guide.

  1. This R version is even hotter and attractive than the one on sale now in the Middle East, worth the wait. 😉
