Chevrolet Cruze hits UAE and USA

2011 Chevrolet Cruze
The 2010 Chevrolet Cruze has been unveiled in the UAE, during some launch event at a Sharjah showroom. Incidentally, the Cruze has also been unveiled in the United States as a 2011 model in time for the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, and it looks like the U.S. version gets better features.

We’ve already gone over the 2010 Chevrolet Cruze in detail earlier. Built in Korea, the GCC-spec Cruze comes with a 140 hp 1.8-litre engine with 176 Nm of torque. Standard features include a CD/MP3 player, ABS brakes, two front airbags, keyless entry, 16-inch wheels and basic power accessories, with everything else being optional. These options include a CD changer, automatic a/c, cruise control, keyless start, fog lamps, sunroof, parking sensors and 17-inch alloy wheels.

However, the American-built 2011 Chevrolet Cruze that will enter U.S. showrooms late next year gets more interesting specs. Offered alongside the 1.8-litre will be an efficient 1.4-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder with 138 hp and a solid 200 Nm of torque, which will also offer a range of up to 800 km.

The U.S. version, identified by orange markers on the front bumper, also gets ten standard airbags, stability control, optional navigation system with Bluetooth, optional 18-inch wheels and even optional leather seats, among other luxury items.

The GCC-spec model has a reasonable starting price of around Dhs 53,000, undercutting the Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla, not taking special offers into account. For more prices and specs, visit the Chevrolet Cruze buyer guide.

  1. i guess, manufacturers dont send turbocharged engines here cuz of the low quality fuel and those that do bring them have to de-tune them. this 1.4 has almost the same hp as, and more torque than the 1.8 and still more fuel efficient. Chevrolet designers must be praised for the apparent hard work they put in for the interior. And the exterior also looks good even though they used that new signature grille, they got the proportions right and the car looks really smart.

Cant say the same for their Malibu. that car’s looks just say that all its separate parts were designed in completely different departments which were not aware of what the other was doing.
