Infiniti QX56 2011 revealed in U.S.

Based on the all-new 2010 Nissan Patrol, Infiniti has revealed its redesigned 2011 QX56 full-size SUV at the 2010 New York International Auto Show. The new second-generation QX is scheduled to go on sale at U.S. Infiniti dealerships by this summer. The 2011 QX is offered in two models for the American market, namely the Infiniti QX56 2WD and the Infiniti QX56 4WD.

The exterior gives away its Nissan origins, save for unique front and rear ends, as well as some thin wheel arches. Inside, features include a standard Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, Around View Monitor, Bose 2-channel, 13-speaker Premium Audio System, available perforated semi-aniline leather seating, and available DVD entertainment system with dual 7-inch color monitors which allows different sources to be played at the same time. The 2011 QX also offers three-row seating, with a reclining 3rd row.

The 2011 QX also comes with a 400 hp 5.6-litre V8 engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) and Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) systems with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

For the first time ever on an Infiniti model, a new Hydraulic Body Motion Control system is offered, available on both 2WD and 4WD models as part of the Deluxe Touring Package, which also includes 22-inch wheels and a number of other features. The system helps reduce body lean while turning for a more comfortable ride.

Included among the new QX’s standard entertainment and technology features are an 8-inch WVGA color touch-screen display, Infiniti Controller for use with the vehicle information systems and comfort and convenience features, and the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with US-only add-ons such as XM NavTraffic with Real-Time Traffic Information, XM NavWeather with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast and Zagat Survey Restaurant Guide. Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System is standard, as is XM Satellite Radio, USB connection for use with iPod Interface or other compatible devices, and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth.

The new Infiniti QX also offers a range of advanced technology systems, including Infiniti’s Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems. A new Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system is also available. Optional on the new QX is Infiniti’s advanced Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range), Distance Control Assist (DCA), Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

Pricing for the 2011 Infiniti QX has apparently been fixed at the same level as the outgoing model in the United States, though that may not hold true in the GCC. Either way, we are having a hard time spotting what is available on the Infiniti QX that isn’t already offered in the top-spec Nissan Patrol. Keep track of UAE updates in the Infiniti QX buyer guide.

  1. The new second-generation QX…
Isnt it the third gen model? the first one was based on the old pathfinder I think.

  2. Looks aggressive! Nicely improved.

The best Infiniti remains the FX- it has one of the best designs and one of the best cars on roads today.

  3. ugly!!!!
this looks lyk the chrysler PT Cruiser from the front !!
i thought QX was based on the armada .. since when was it based on the patrol ??
interior is pretty much plucked outta the patrol .

    DESIGNERS LACKING CREATIVITY !!

  4. Interior doesn’t look to have changed and for the exterior Nissan seems to have taken cues from the new Patrol…

Any idea as to when this will get here? I am very close to picking one up and stumbled upon this article.

  5. Vivek, I think they keep changing the Nissan 4×4 platform, on which the QX is based. the first gen was on the pathfinder, then on the armada and now, its based on Patrol.

  6. Guys the armada is no more..the platform is based on the Patrol now..

  7. previous QX wasnt a competition for lexus LX…new one is surely gonna be a great rival for LX…
