Ayrton Senna’s F1 debut car up for auction

The ‘Silverstone Auctions’ spring sale this May, will see off one of motorsport history’s most valued – the Toleman TG184-2 Formula-One car, driven by the three-time F1 champion Ayrton Senna in his rookie season.

This is the same car which won him second spot in the rain-soaked Monaco GP in 1984, starting an era which marked Ayrton as one of the best F1 racers of all time. Moreover, the Toleman also finished third and seventh in the British and Canadian GP, respectively.

Technically, the car was restored completely. It is also claimed that, the car will sport a mechanically sound 1.5 litre in-line four cylinder engine behind the cockpit.

Silverstone Auctions, the official automotive auction company for Silverstone circuit, declined to state the estimate value of the rare piece, but they will be banking on the successful sale of Senna’s helmet and race suit earlier this year.

The auction will take place on May 16th, and will also offer some rare classics along with the racecar.
