2016 Infiniti Q50

Infiniti has officially unveiled the new 2016 Q50 with a host of new engine options, one of which is a twin-turbo V6 pumping out 400hp.

Not much has been changed cosmetically. However, the most powerful ‘Sport’ variant will benefit from special exhaust tips and unique 19-inch aluminium wheels with summer performance run-flat tyres.

Majority of the Q50’s changes will happen under the bonnet. There’s an all-new 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque, spelling the end of the naturally-aspirated VQ-series V6 engine. However, if that’s not swift enough, Infiniti will tune the same engine to produce an impressive 400 hp and 474 Nm of torque. Infiniti will also be carrying forward the Mercedes-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine pumping out 208 hp and 350 Nm of torque and the 3.5-litre electric-hybrid V6 good for 360 hp.

All the engines will be mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual-shifting mode, and customers can opt for Infiniti’s all-wheel drive system. Apart from that, the new Q50 will feature an improved Direct Adaptive Steering system, retuned suspension and new stabiliser bars. The Q50 Sport will benefit from a new “Dynamic Digital Suspension” system as well.

Much like the exterior, not much has been changed inside. But a new ‘Premium Plus Package’ which adds an electrically-adjustable steering wheel, split-folding rear seats, heated front seats and steering wheel will make way to the options list. The package also includes auto dimming exterior mirrors, power lumbar support for the driver seat, and an Infiniti ‘InTouch’ infotainment system with navigation.

The 2016 Q50 with the new engine options should make way to UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC sometime early next year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Infiniti Q50 buyer guide.

  1. Targeting bmw the benchmark…..lol it will take them ages

  2. BMW 3 series is no more considered a benchmark in entry level luxury segment…Cadillac ATS and Jaguar XE are are already considered better cars…

  3. Holy mother of justice!! Finally my dream come true

  4. Infiniti should bring the Eau Rouge too (the version with the GT-R engine) and round off the Q50 as a proper competitor to the Germans…

  5. Zao@ in which way they are better cars, can you elaborate,Since the last decade BMW 335i (which is replaced by 340i) is been dominated in the segment, its know as a drivers car, good fuel efficient & more over they introduced the twin scroll turbo technology which is now used by most of the car makers, they invent and others follow 🙂 as Hazem@ said “XE is an amazing machinery”. It is a strong contender but it is still not the benchmark.

  6. You all guys compare it to BMW or other german cars, but dont forget that this engine is giving a strong blow to the direct Japanese rival which is lexus, the Q50 already slightly outperformed IS 350 from lexus with its old 3.7 L engine, now with this new engine, it will leave it eating dust in the back, Lexus really needs to think about changing their dated and very old 3.5 L engines, they are out performed by all competitors now, with this engine, Im sure the Q50 0-100 sprint will be below 5 seconds, something around 4.7 maybe, while in Lexus, you get slow cars, or the 5 L in the F series which is very expensive and even pricier than german cars, I wanted to pre order the GS-F, they asked for 350K, hehehehe what a joke

  7. Looks like there is a heated discussion here about 3series….when i said 3 series isn’t anymore a benchmark i didnt say another car is the benchmark now…I didnt mention about the ATS and XE as new benchmarks either…i do agree that BMW engine is really superior and good interiors and infotainment system but the place where it excelled was the driving dynamics….But recently ATS and XE was able to outmatch the 3series with better suspension setup and chasis….In fact now there is nothing like a benchmark in that segment becuz each car has its merits and bad side…I would never say 3 series is a bad car….its still one of the best in that segment….its the most fiercely battled segment among the luxury cars with more competition than we find in a midsize family cars segment….There is 3 series, A4, IS, Q50, ATS, XE, C class, S60 and soon to join the game Guilia and in another 1 or 2 years we would find something from Genesis which they already call as G70….
