The Hummer H3 has always been criticised for its weak inline-5 engine. But the General is set to change that with the launch of the 2008 H3 Alpha, packing a 5.3-litre V8 under the hood.

The small-block V8 offers 295 hp and 429 Nm of torque, compared to the existing engine’s 242 hp and 328 Nm of torque. The H3 Alpha’s cabin remains unchanged except for an “Alpha” badge on the steering wheel. The H3 Luxury Package is standard equipment, as well as a silver-painted lower front bumper for all 2008 models.
