2027 INFINITI QX65 makes global debut with sporty fastback design

The all-new 2027 INFINITI QX65 has made its global debut, introducing a bold fastback-style SUV that blends coupe-inspired design with midsize luxury practicality. Positioned as a more emotional and design-focused offering within the brand’s SUV lineup, the QX65 draws inspiration from the iconic FX while showcasing the next phase of INFINITI’s design and technology direction.

Fastback design

The QX65 adopts a dramatic fastback silhouette, highlighted by an arched roofline, wide stance, and sculpted bodywork. The proportions are clearly aimed at delivering a more dynamic and sporty presence compared to traditional midsize SUVs.

Up front, the SUV features a three-dimensional grille inspired by Japanese bamboo forests, paired with the brand’s signature “digital piano key” lighting. The design is further enhanced by a new “Sunfire Red” paint finish, which incorporates gold-coated glass flecks to create a distinctive shimmer under light.

Large wheels – 20-inch as standard and 21-inch on higher trims along with pronounced fenders and a wide track, reinforce the QX65’s performance-oriented stance. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar with vertical elements adds to the SUV’s modern identity.

Practical interior

Despite its coupe-like profile, the QX65 retains a strong focus on usability. The cabin offers a flexible second row that slides, reclines, and folds, allowing buyers to prioritise passenger comfort or cargo space as needed.

Cargo capacity stands at 35.8 cubic feet behind the second row and expands to 67.7 cubic feet with the seats folded, making it competitive within its segment.

The interior also reflects INFINITI’s focus on craftsmanship, with detailed materials and available 64-colour ambient lighting themes inspired by Japanese seasons. This adds a layer of personalisation and reinforces the premium positioning of the model.

Tech-focused cabin with Google integration

Technology is a key highlight in the QX65, with dual 12.3-inch displays standard across all variants, one for the instrument cluster and one for infotainment.

The system integrates Google built-in, bringing native Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to apps via Google Play directly into the vehicle. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included as standard, along with multiple USB-C ports and a Qi2 wireless charging pad with improved alignment and cooling.

Audio is another standout feature. Higher trims offer Klipsch premium sound systems, with up to 20 speakers and 1,200 watts of output. A unique ‘Individual Audio’ feature allows the driver to isolate navigation or phone audio through headrest speakers without disturbing other occupants.

QX65 with VC-Turbo engine

Powering the QX65 is a 2.0-litre Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine producing 268 hp and 387 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard paddle shifters.

The setup has been tuned for responsive acceleration and stronger mid-range performance, aiming to deliver confident overtaking and smooth highway cruising. Standard Intelligent All-Wheel Drive enhances traction across varying conditions.

Additional technologies such as Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement help refine the driving experience, reducing unwanted cabin noise while amplifying sportier engine tones.

Safety and driver assistance

The QX65 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety and driver assistance features. Standard systems include Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, and ProPILOT Assist.

Higher trims add advanced camera-based features such as a 3D Around View Monitor, Front Wide View, and an “Invisible Hood View,” which projects the area beneath the vehicle onto the display, useful for tight urban manoeuvres or off-road visibility.

INFINITI QX65 UAE & GCC arrival timeline

According to INFINITI Motor Company, the all-new QX65 is expected to arrive in the Middle East by the end of 2026. Full regional specifications, trim details, and pricing for the UAE are yet to be announced.

Verdict

The QX65 is clearly aimed at buyers who want something more distinctive than a conventional midsize SUV. It combines coupe-inspired styling with usable space and a strong tech package, a formula that has worked well for rivals in this segment.

For the UAE & GCC market, its success will likely depend on pricing and how it positions itself against established competitors, but as a design-led offering, the QX65 signals a more confident and expressive direction for INFINITI’s future lineup.
