2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG unveiled
The 2008 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG has finally been unveiled. Based on the all-new C-Class, it packs a 457 hp 6.3-litre V8 under the hood in a tight little package that beats the new BMW M3 and rips apart the Audi RS4 in terms of power.
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first details of its new super sedan, the C63 AMG, which will out perform its segment competitors thanks to a V8 powerplant that enables the car to sprint to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds.
Underneath the sleek hood with its prominent power bulges is a 6.3-litre engine that develops 457 hp which is very close to the 470 hp produced by the race-winning AMG C-Class currently competing in the DTM series.
Maximum torque of 600 Nm of torque is unrivalled in its class and provides maximum acceleration in any engine speed range.
The high-performance eight cylinder engine is partnered by the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission. Equipped with AMG steering wheel shift paddles there are three driving modes with the ‘M’mode changing gears 50 percent faster than the Comfort setting,
Outstanding handling dynamics comes thanks to an all-new three-link front axle design with springs and gas shock absorbers ensuring optimal road contact and low body movement in cornering. The multi-link independent rear suspension has a 12 millimetre wider track and more camber than the standard C-Class giving improved cornering performance.
Inside the AMG instrument cluster in a tubular design features newly styled dials, AMG-specific lettering and a new night-time design. The AMG main menu in a central display allows numerous settings including ‘Warm Up’, ‘Set Up’ and ‘Race’ modes activatesd via buttons on the steering wheel. ‘Warm Up’ displays engine oil and coolant temperatures, ‘Set Up’ the current ESP mode and transmission settings such as ‘S’, ‘C’ or ‘M’. ‘Race’ mode makes the Racetimer available with which the driver can measure lap times on a race track.

This car is better than the new BMW M3, its got a bigger engine and its faster 0-100km/h (0-60mp/h). C63 AMG 4,5 sec. and M3 4,8 sec.

I drive an RS4….In terms of power, Yes I believe the Merc will Rip apart the M3 and the RS4 Obviously….But let me just say Put all 3 of these Cars together on a track and the RS4 will batter both the M3 and This new Merc! With out a doubt…Dount forget the RS4 and the M3 have exactly the same power!
So hats off to the journalist on this piece for making a stupid comment!!
To be Honest I am looking at buying a new car, I find the M5 Boring…I was looking at the New E55 which is also Boring..But now I have seen this it does spice things up a bit!!
How Much are they with out all the options? And does it come with a Flappy Paddle???

IDK why u would get this when u can get the m5 or put a little more money and get the m6 or if that doesnt satisfy you u can put more money and just get the CLK 63 AMG BLACK SERIES

macca, the rs4 cost £10000 more than a BMW M3 new and tips the scales 70kg more than the m3 and is 4 wheel drive, watch top gear tonight to see your rs4 get owned in a straight line and on the track, top gear showed a 2000 bmw m3 vs a 2004 s4 audi 4.2 v8, the old 3.2 bmw m3 beat that in a straight line and on the track, i dont hold out much hope for the rs against the all new m3, the c63 will win in a straight line its got 600nm, round bends the merc will struggle coss of its 6.3 litre lump upfront, with the £10k i saved id have a supercharger fitted to the V8 m3

The thing is BMW was the first in the business to make super sedans. The M5, M3, M6 they’re all the first which set the templete that BMW was the first, but since then when AMG and the RS divisions of Audi and Mercedes came out, they tried not to just copy the M division but to add more power and more of everything which has made people believe that more is everything. BMW may be underpowered with the M3, but it’s the way it drives and that perfect balance which sets it apart and let alone thrashes the competion. The M3 has been and still is the king in the Sport Sedan market.

If any of you subscribe to the Top Gear magazine, the January 2008 issue has an article which compares the new M3 and C63, and Clarkson even brings in a Cayman. The Cayman seemed to be the best…but i would never own a 2-seater
The magazine also has an article about the BMW Alpina B3 Biturbo (alpina version of 3-series), which is 5000 pounds cheaper than the new M3 (around 40,000 dirhams), and it is faster, even though it’s an inline-six. obviously a much better competitor with the C63!

Yeah, it’s an alright car.
I had a ride in a black chromed-AMG yesterday and the thrill is the fun.I related with the blastingride well at 240 km/hr.

If I was 30, I’d buy this AMG 63, but because of my age I’ll still stick to the BMW M3(2008).
But must say that this car represents pure class.
