2015 Kia Sorento revealed at LA Auto Show

2015 Kia Sorento
Kia recently unveiled the all-new 2015 Sorento at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. It is longer and wider in size than the outgoing model, thereby having more interior room.

The new Sorento follows a similar design from its predecessors, however, its styling will sport minor changes across different continents. For instance, this US-release Sorento comes with a “tiger-nose” grille. The sweptback headlights from the earlier Asian release are carried onto all versions. The new Sorento gets a sloping roofline, lightly flared wheel arches and chrome accents on the side mirrors and the grille. It will also ride on 17, 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels.

In the US, the entry-level model comes with a 2.4-litre GDI 4-cylinder engine that develops 185 hp and 241 Nm of torque. The second is a turbocharged 2.0-litre GDI 4-cylinder coughing up 240 hp and 352 Nm of torque. The third is a 3.3-litre GDI V6 which produces 290 hp and 341 Nm of torque. All of the three engines are restricted to a 6-speed automatic transmission and optional all-wheel drive.

As with most Kias, the Sorento will come with a host of in-cabin features as standard, including a 4.3-inch display and an infotainment system. Move the charts up a bit higher and you get Nappa leather upholstery, heated / ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. A 12-speaker Infinity audio system and a UVO infotainment system with an 8-inch display are also on offer.

The new Sorento was introduced in South Korea sometime earlier this year. However, expect to see the new Sorento in UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries sometime next year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Kia Sorento buyer guide.
