Audi R8 Spyder V10 convertible debuts

Audi R8 Spyder
The entirely-predictable Audi R8 Spyder convertible will debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Sporting a cloth folding top, the R8 Spyder will only come with a V10 engine.

The 525 hp 5.2-litre V10 engine is optional on the regular coupe, but standard on the Spyder convertible. Other differences from the coupe include a windshield frame in brushed aluminium and shiny vented lumps on the engine lid behind the front seats. The ugly “blades” of carbon-fibre on the side vents, a trademark of the coupe, have been deleted.

The R8 Spyder will likely go on sale internationally by early 2010, but the UAE release may be delayed for much longer. For GCC specs relating to the V10 engine, visit the Audi R8 buyer guide.
