Hyundai Accent 2011 debuts again as concept

We figured we were done with how the 2011 Hyundai Accent will look, when the Chinese-market Hyundai Verna was launched this April at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show. However, it seems Hyundai is introducing multiple variants of that car in different markets. The Hyundai “RB Concept” was just launched at the 2010 Moscow Auto Show, looking very showroom-ready, and destined for local production and sale in Russia. It is possible that this is the car that will reach the GCC as the Hyundai Accent.

The Russian RB Concept differs from the Chinese Hyundai Verna is just the front and rear bumper bumper areas. Interior details have not been released yet, although it will like look just like the one in the Verna.

When the production sub-compact sedan hits production, it will be powered by either a 1.4-litre or a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine, featuring fuel injection with “CVVT” continuously variable-valve timing. The 1.4-litre offers 106 hp and 135 Nm of torque, while the 1.6-litre makes 122 hp and 156 Nm of torque, with the choice of a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual.

The Russian version will hit showrooms in early 2011, but the GCC will get the Korean-built version, possibly at an earlier date.

Keep track of UAE updates in the Hyundai Accent buyer guide.
