Opel Antara 2011 facelift quietly debuts with new engine

No one cares about Opel in the UAE, or even knows whether their cars are still on sale or not. It would seem Opel really is alive and well, and had been offering the Opel Antara small crossover for the past couple of years in their line-up. The model has received a facelift for 2011.

For those keeping track, the Opel Antara is a Korean crossover built by General Motors and was briefly also offered as the GMC Terrain in the GCC. Sharing a platform with the Chevrolet Captiva, the facelifted Antara now comes with a 170 hp 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine, in front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive forms, with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. For 2011, an electric parking brake and hill assist system are standard.

This crossover never made it big in this region, but the brief glimpse we had of the Antara at a motor show indicated a competent vehicle with the only soft-touch interior trim in its class as well as decent space. It could’ve done well if it weren’t marketed so poorly.

Keep track of GCC updates in the Opel Antara buyer guide.

What do you think?

  1. Yeah, well GM does its usual annoying thing of selling one model on several brands… This car can be found here as the chevy captiva, GMC terrain & daewoo in other markets and i bet there’s a vauxhall of it in the USA..

Any almost any brand GM has is almost dead and loses its originality and becomes merely a marketing tool as a badge… or becomes sold or shuts down… I know this is off topic but those guys at GM do have serious problems…

  2. ^ VAUXHALL IN THE UK*… sorry for the mistake..

  3. Opel cars are good value for money.
I had owned a new Vectra for 3 years and done only the normal service.

  4. ^Good to know! Its a pity other people will not know how good a car it is due to zero marketing in this region.

  5. and t top it all – its mid january in UK and NO SIGN of these in the showrooms – thought you sold more 4×4 s in the winter!!??

  6. If you please ,i’d like to ask whether opel company is still the very good german company or the GMC has its imprints on it?
and is opel antara a durable,long-lasting,cost-effective vehicle ?
please answer me. thank you very much.
