Jeep Compass gets major facelift for 2011
Cancelled a while ago in the GCC due to poor sales, the Jeep Compass is back for 2011 in the U.S. with styling cues coming directly from the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. Coupled with interior refinements, upgraded steering and suspension, slightly-redone rear and a new face, the 2011 Compass may still be based on the Dodge Caliber platform, but now comes with an offroad-capable “Trail Rated” optional all-wheel-drive system.
Changes to the 2011 Compass include a new front end, rear LED lights, new roof rails, new 17-inch aluminum wheels and optional 18-inch chrome wheels. The new interior offers soft-touch front-door trim panels, nicer steering wheel, new cloth interior with premium cloth bucket seats in the front, standard cruise control, new backlighting for switches and more. The UConnect multimedia hard-drive system with Bluetooth and navigation is available optionally.
Safety features, including standard front air bags, stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist with manual transmission, side curtain air bags for all rows and available front-seat-mounted side air bags.
Two available engines include the 158 hp 2.0-litre 4-cylinder with 191 Nm of torque, as well as a 172 hp 2.4-litre with 224 Nm of torque, both mated to either a CVT automatic or a 5-speed manual.
The 2011 Jeep Compass is available in three drivetrain configurations. In addition to the base front-wheel-drive version, also available are the Freedom Drive I and the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package. Freedom Drive I is an available full-time, active all-wheel-drive system with lock mode. It also features a lockable centre coupling, with a four-wheel-drive lock mode. The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package is an available four-wheel-drive system that delivers “Trail Rated” capability. The Off-Road Package includes a second-generation CVT transmission with low range that engages when the off-road mode is activated, all-terrain tyres and aluminum wheels, a one-inch raised ride height, a full-size spare tyre, skid plates, tow hooks, fog lamps and manual seat height adjuster.
While this model’s mechanical twin, the Jeep Patriot, continues to be on sale in the UAE, it is unknown if the Compass itself will make a comeback to Middle East showrooms.

Oweful car. Couldn’t they think of a better interior designe. Look at the gear selector location and the cup holders behind it.
Those designers should be fires, and new German designers must be hired in their places.
DiSAPPOINTiNG job JEEP. I do not think they will ever make nice comfortable interiors. SO SAD.
