Peugeot 208 2012 revealed in Europe

The all-new 2012 Peugeot 208 hatch is set to continue the success chronicle of the lion-badged French carmaker in the sub-compact segment. Revealed as the successor to the Peugeot 207, the marque intends to leapfrog ahead of its segment competitors.

The Peugeot 208 marks the introduction of two new 3-cylinder petrol engines, a 1.0-litre motor rated for 75 hp, and a 1.2-litre motor rated for 100 hp. Also available are five diesel variants featuring Stop & Start system and hybrid assist. Available in both three-door and five-door body-styles, the all new Peugeot 208 is also much lighter than the model it replaces, all without compromising on aerodynamics, driving experience and interior space.  Peugeot claims that the 208 has increased occupant space despite a relatively shrunken exterior. The newly-designed interior is mind-blowing in terms of both material quality and premium feel while being a visual treat for the eye.

The new iteration of the Peugeot 2-series is set to roll out of the showrooms across Europe by summer next year. Expect the Peugeot 208 to reach the UAE, Saudi Arabia and GCC by late 2012.

Keep track of updates in the Peugeot buyer guide.
