Porsche 911 Cabriolet joins redesigned range for 2012

The all-new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet will be joining the 911 Coupé for next year. First models of the Carrera and Carrera S convertible can be expected as early as March 2012 worldwide.

The Cabriolet features an all-new convertible soft-top design with less weight, aiding lower fuel consumption and quietness while making use of magnesium in its construction.

Each of the two new convertibles has the same engine as its Coupé equivalent. The rear of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet houses a 350 hp 3.4-litre flat-6 engine. The open-top Carrera S comes with a 400 hp 3.8-litre flat-6. For both, the world’s first 7-gear manual transmission is featured as standard. The Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) automanual gearbox is available as an option, resulting in even lower fuel consumption and shorter acceleration time.

Compared to the preceding models, the new Cabriolets have a longer wheelbase, a wider front track as well as new electro-mechanical power steering. Depending on the model, additional active control systems, offered as standard or as an option, further “enhance” the driving dynamics.

The new 911 Carrera Cabriolet is available for order as of today with deliveries starting in March 2012. The basic retail price for the 911 Carrera Cabriolet in the GCC is Dhs 370,500, whereas the 911 Carrera S Cabriolet is available from Dhs 432,400.

  1. Electro-mechanical power steering?!?? I usually know these ruin the steering feel of a car.. Something you really need in a performance car?

Nevertheless, hail to the king of performance cars!!

  2. a cabriolet porsche is ghey 😛 and heavy! not to mention it affects the handling and performance.

    • Apparently you never drove a convertible..

& I dont think you need to worry too much about Porsche engineering.. a little bit of weight for such a luxury is not a bad idea..

  3. There is nothing gay about driving Porche.
    This is a men’s car!!
