Lexus ES 350 overhauled for 2013

The Lexus ES 350 has been updated for the 2013 model-year, and made its official debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show.

Changes include a 1.8-inch longer wheelbase and an updated look that includes the new corporate spindle grille. The interior is completely new, with more space, and includes a big LCD screen mated to the Lexus Remote Touch Interface controller next to the gear-shifter. New seats offer a leather-alternative NuLuxe covering, although real leather is also available, along with premium semi-aniline leather.

The 2013 Lexus ES 350, obviously still based on the Toyota Camry, will still come with Toyota’s 272 hp 3.5-litre V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic and front-wheel-drive. The suspension and steering have apparently been modified to improve handling, while reducing weight by 40 kg.

Also new is a hybrid Lexus ES 300h model, powered by the same 2.5-litre 4-cylinder found in the American-market Toyota Camry Hybrid. The hybrid will have a sport mode as well as an EV mode.

We’d expect the new ES 350 to show up in UAE, Saudi Arabia and other GCC showrooms by the end of summer. Even the hybrid model might be introduced here, for all we know.

Keep track of prices and specs in the Lexus ES buyer guide.

  2. It looks like Genesis from Rear :S

  3. any new gadgets ?

  4. it actually looks great well done toyota!… looks like they have given the designers a raise

  5. Actually, this time around, the ES is based on the Avalon, which is itself a stretched Camry, but still…

  6. The only thing I don’t like about the design is that the front bonnet cuts through the hood instead of ending at the grill.. Looks a bit awkward.

  7. Overall well balanced in style, features and gadgets from previous ES350..the only negative is old carry over engine instead of new Direct Injection like in new GS350

    • It would outrun the GS350 if it has a Direct-Injection. It’s a marketing strategy to push people to buy the GS. Except if you really want the Rear-Wheel drive of course 🙂

  8. this looks like the LS ,now i wonder how would the new LS look like

  9. تبارک الله
