Hyundai i40 now available for purchase in UAE & GCC

Hyundai’s new generation station-wagon, the i40, which is extensively based on the Sonata sedan, has been officially announced in the Middle East, although we can confirm that it has been sitting at the Hyundai showroom in Dubai for the last few months already.

The i40, like the rest of the lineup, follows Hyundai’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ design and signature hexagonal front grille, while some added touches like LED side repeater mirrors also make way. The car also features a spoiler and aerodynamic roof.

Dubbed as a “sports” wagon, the i40 will be available to customers in ‘GL’ and ‘GLS’ variants. The main engine on offer will be a 164 hp 2.0 litre “MPI” 4-cylinder with 200 Nm of torque and mated to a 6-speed automatic, although the press-release also wrongly claims the availability of a 1.7-litre ‘HIGH POWER’ engine, the latter being a diesel so its release here is impossible. This isn’t the first time that we’ve been supplied wrong information by a Hyundai press-release.

The interior also sports the same fluidic design, as seen with the dashboard and centre console. A 4.2 inch TFT LCD info screen is available, along with other features like navigation, iPod and USB connection compatibility, and up to eight speakers.

Optional extras like leather or sports seats can also be ordered, with additional front air-ventilated seats. On the other hand, the wagon remains practical with fully foldable rear seats for extra luggage space, and added equipments like a luggage net, hooks, cargo screen and a cargo safety net.

The i40 supposedly offers safety features like corner-braking control, stability control, ABS and also side, curtain and knee airbags. It remains to be seen what is actually offered locally.

The new Hyundai i40 is available for purchase via local dealerships across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the GCC. The wagon will set you back Dhs 80,000 in Dubai.

Keep track of updates in the Hyundai buyer guide.

  3. CUT COPY PASTE !

  4. 80K for hyundai station-wagon?? Better to take an option of SUV..

  5. the i20 and i30 models are also very expensive for their specs.dont know why hyundai has priced the i series in the higher range without offering anything extra.

Why is the tittle “Hyundai i40 now available for purchase in UAE & GCC”

Since UAE is a part of GCC is it not right to just mention GCC in which UAE is included?

    Cheers
