2013 Hyundai Genesis now in Middle East with GDI engine

According to a press release by Hyundai Middle East, their “GDI” direct-injection engine will make its debut in the Middle East with the new 2013 Hyundai Genesis, giving it more horsepower and torque. However, they’ve said a lot of things before, such as the “launch” of the GDI engines in the latest Genesis Coupe models, which never made it to the local dealers.

According to their latest announcement, the Genesis gets the 3.8-litre V6 GDI engine, good enough to produce 333 hp and 395 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, to offer better acceleration and improve fuel efficiency. Apparently the older 286 hp “MPI” V6 engine will continue to be offered as well, although the V8-powered Prada edition seems to have been dropped.

The interior gets a new 8-inch display with navigation and a user-interface as well a joystick-type controller.

The 2013 Genesis should be available in all Hyundai showrooms across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the GCC.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Hyundai Genesis buyer guide.

  1. Well, if its really here, I certainly hope its the start and it rolls out to all the units.

How soon do we wait for a 200hp 2.4L Sonata / Optima? 😛

My mentality should be one step at a time, but I cant help being excited at the thought of turbo versions also coming down in the near future. Fingers crossed

  2. My best friend recently (1 month back) bought this car (the V6 without the air suspension). We had gone to test drive this car. We were thoroughly impressed with performance and features. Superb value for money with features you find on an E class Mercedes or 5 series BMW. He bought it for 33K. Service including parts all covered till 60000kms. Unlimited mileage warranty (bumper to bumper) up to 5 years. Can you beat that! But why aren’t many people buying this car?

  3. Sorry. That was a typo error. 🙂 I meant AED 133000

    • Ah, cool. I thought it was either a typo or a second-hand car. Being a Hyundai, the latter could’ve been somewhat plausible.

    • @ Mash, buying a car at 140 K and selling it at 33 K is plausible coz its hyundai? we know it has poorer resale value but not to that degree, I bought 2009 Santa Fe for 86 K, used it for almost 2 years (20 months to be exact) and drove it for 70000 kms and sold it for 66k dhs, i even think it has better resale compared to “”some”” japanese cars …. nice, i buy for 140k and sell for 33k, it is plausible only of the car had an accident that torn it apart and then i weld it back again

  4. I personally owned a Hyundai for almost four years now.. I loved the car, very reliable, cheap to run and pretty solid..

Though if someone asks me whether I will ever buy a Hyundai again.. My answer would most likely be no..
