Jeep Cherokee 2014 full details revealed

2014 Jeep Cherokee
The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee has now been revealed in its entirety, in time for the 2013 New York Auto Show. And it remains as controversial as ever.

One report suggests that this was actually supposed to be an Alfa Romeo crossover, until parent-company Fiat decided it should become a Jeep product. The 2014 Cherokee is thus based on an Alfa Romeo-derived platform shared with the Dodge Dart.

Interestingly, possibly as a last-minute fix to the universally-negative reaction to earlier photos, these new photos appear to be photoshopped with smoked headlights (yes, those rectangles above the bumper are the actual headlights). It remains to be seen how the production version looks in real life.

The new Jeep Cherokee will offer both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive, with a choice between a 184 hp 2.4-litre “Tigershark” 4-cylinder and a new 271 hp 3.2-litre “Pentastar” V6. A new 9-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models. It features four-wheel-independent suspension.

There will be four different versions — Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk. The last one is the most offroad-capable version and has Jeep’s “Trail Rated” badges, and comes with a Selec-Terrain system and a locking rear differential.

Other available features include a park-assist system that gives you directions on how to park into a particular space, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with optional navigation and rear camera, adaptive cruise control with auto-braking, and more.

Expect the new model to reach showrooms in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and other GCC countries by early next year.

Keep track of future updates in the Jeep Cherokee buyer guide.

  1. i don’t think they cud hav made that front any fuglier!! *facepalm*

  2. looks weird from front :v

  3. I just threw up in my mouth second time

  4. It’s not so bad…although the rear is quite similar to the new Kia Sportage.

The off-road sounds very promising and the specs sound like it could kick the softroaders and wannabe crossovers, and even some established off-roaders.

Can’t wait for the reviews to be out.

  5. The Face or the Front side is the ugliest i’ve ever seen in my life! I have the solution but I would only give that solution if the the Company is purchased by the Japanese, koreans or the chinese!

  6. This should have been the new Isuzu Vehicross (If so it came out). 😛

  7. The resale value of the older Jeeps just got higher.

  8. Looks like some alien spacecraft from the front

  9. Almost as ugly as the Nissan Juke LOL

  10. First they complain that every new car launched looks like something else already on the market and then they complain about how ugly something is even though it’s different from everything on the market. I’m not saying this is pretty but at least they tried to be different. Kudos to them for that. The rear looks good and the side profile depicts a large interior/cargo space. Obviously pictures can be deceptive. Interior looks good as well and that Trailhawk version sounds promising.

  11. Give the pictures a second look and you’ll fall in love with it’s uniqueness.

  12. Thats one GANGSTA looking suv,for sure you gonna scare the guy you driving in front and the pedestrians.

  13. Well I guess the interior looks good, and definitely is an improvement over the outgoing model. and lets not forget that jeep is a well established offroader brand, reliable and cheaply maintained. I think it would definitely take a good chunk from both the edge and the CRV’s market shares, provided it is properly loaded and well priced, which I doubt be cuz we all know the dealer’s overpricing attitude.

  14. just ugly, cars designers become stupid years over years. It’s time to go back to the classic ages.

  15. which one is the headlight? confusing design though.

  16. This looks gorgeous!!! Well I like Predator movies.

  17. Car with braces. Lol

  18. That is one weird looking puppy (even looks like one with the squinting headlights). Very ‘Fordish’ interior though.

  19. car is ugly but it has a 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC transmision!

  20. I think the front view is ok and futuristic with a very dude kinda thing. It is just different look sending us in a shock reaction. We’ll get used to it by time. My problem is the rear view. It looks so Granny kinda car and somehow looking like cheap . there is nothing regal about it. I think the company should consider redesigning the rear. It needs to be more masculine. If so, I’d love to get that car.
