After continuously giving us sneak peaks, Mercedes-Benz have finally revealed the 2014 S-Class. Slightly taller and wider, the new S-Class features a front fascia with a bigger front radiator grille and a slanting rear end. Under the skin, it gets a host of new technologies.

The Mercedes-Benz S500 will come with a 4.7-litre V8 engine, which produces 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque. This is enough to power the S500 from 0-100 kph in 4.8 seconds and top out at a electronically-limited speed of 250 kph. The S400 Hybrid will get a 3.5-litre V6 hybridized engine which will produce 306 hp and 370 Nm of torque, which can help reach it from 0-100 kph in 6.8 seconds and electronically-limited top speed of 250 kph.

Inside, the traditional instrument cluster from the previous generation is gone and will be replaced by two high-resolution 8:3 format colour displays, 12.3-inch insize, for controlling comfort settings and infotainment purposes.

Seats will be fitted with 14 actuated air bladders in the backrest with six different massage programs. For safety the S-Class gets “beltbags”, which are airbags in the seatbelt webbing, and “cushionbags”, which prevent occupants from sliding under the belt.

A new climate control, called “thermotronic” will be introduced by Mercedes-Benz in the new S-Class. It features improved filtering of outside air and also an “active perfuming system” for customising the smell of the interior.

The new S-Class will get “Magic Body Control” which uses cameras to scan the road in advance and adjust the suspension accordingly.

Safety features include Active Parking Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Night View Assist Plus, Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist and Pre-Safe Brake with pedestrian recognition.

After being spotted numerous times in Dubai, surely expect the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class to arrive in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other GCC countries by the end of the year.

Keep track of the latest prices and updates in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class buyer guide.

  1. well done, mercedes!!

this will set some standards for the lux class for the years to come.

although it sounds odd, i am sure that the competition will soon follow with the active perfuming system. also things like beltbags will set new standards.

truly hope this will help zetsche to stay “alive”!!

    cheers,
    m

    • Mercedes-Benz actually took those ideas from more basic cars. The first car with belt-bags was the 2011 Ford Explorer. The first car I’ve seen with perfumed a/c is…the 2011 Renault Safrane!

    • Also in the news, Mercedes-Benz showed off its “virtual chauffeur” technology in Hamburg set to debut for its mid cycle re-vamp of this new S Class somewhere around 2017. The technology allows it to steer itself in city traffic or keep it in its lane going over 120MPH on a highway all of-course under suitable conditions.

Seen the same tech. also being tested by a VW engineer on a Passat CC

  2. What a car… what a beauty… its a Masterpiece!!!

  3. Masterpiece,,,,,,,everything is great just the steering wheels :/

  4. infinti m37 had the forest air back in 2010

  5. I am so scared about future of driving by our selves! way tooooo much crap in name of safety this tells Benz has hit a wall and not much they can do except add tech that probably 90 year old dead people care about
I was expecting something new in power trains and efficiency being pushed or some other ground braking solution and all they did is add two stereo cameras from galaxy s4 concept showed 3 years ago and made it into an automotive application all this hi tech stuff should stick in an f22 raptor up in the sky I don’t need a bloody array of sensors to tell me of there is something behind the car I rather take responsibility and turn my head back and look!!! I am to in ps3 or Xbox environment! let me have my freedom!

    • maybe our generation will be the last to drive. But the tech enhacements are inevitable and like it seems we can not “live “without smartphones we may think we will not be able to “live” without those ultra automotive gadgets.
Who knows how to application to driving liscence will be 30 years ahead…as cars would probably be autopiloted then!

  6. Awesome! Time n again Benz churns out a stunner!

  7. is it just me or the styling is still the same and they just change the interior alittle bit and the lights only a face lift at best. DISAPOINTED

  8. Is the V8 turbocharged? It looks like way too much power for a 4.7 V8
