The 2.5-litre version of the Mazda CX-5 was launched elsewhere a few months ago, and we had assumed that it’d take ages to reach the GCC. However, word is Mazda’s UAE dealer has been quietly offering the bigger-engined version for at least a month now.

The 2014 Mazda CX-5 now comes with two engines, a 153 hp 2.0-litre 4-cylinder with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, or a 182 hp 2.5-litre 4-cylinder with all-wheel-drive only. Both have a 6-speed automatic.

Each engine variant has two trim levels. All models get a dual-zone auto a/c, keyless entry, fabric upholstery, 40:20:40 plit-folding rear seat, ABS, ESP, front-side airbags, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloys and a 6-speaker CD/MP3 stereo. The top 2.5-litre version additionally comes with smart keyless start, HID headlights, leather upholstery, sunroof, 9-speaker Bose stereo, lane-change monitor, rear camera, 19-inch alloys and a few other knick-knacks for Dhs 115,000 in Dubai. Apparently there’s been a massive price-drop from the last time we checked on it.

  1. Now that’s what I was waiting for!! Else where in the world it was already launched in beginning of year. Please Mush now I want to see the comparo between same class..

  2. Good car and strong competitor to the over priced rav4 and crv

  3. Best in class is the hyundai santa fe 2013

  4. One of the best in class – but when compared to Sportage it looks outdated, even though Kia is older.

  5. this car has come out as the top in almost 99% comparison tests done in US, UK and Australia….

  6. Hi Mash,

I think, now you can compare this with vw tiguan!

  7. shit! they r late, I got tiguan few weeks back.

    • Dont worry, Tiguan is a very nice CUV and it is a proven one. CX-5 is new and yet to prove its long term reliability. Can you update about the service charges for tiguan?

  8. service came within package in ramadan offer, 5ys or 75000kms. but they told me I’ll need to do service every 15k for around 800aed

    • If I would be you I will never service the car with 15k interval (I mean with engine oil change interval). I will definitely change the engine oil and filter @ 7.5k interval and the other 7.5k I let the stealer to do service. UAE heat is extreme and u cannot compromise the engine with their long service interval at the end after warranty get over u have to pay from ur pocket all the cost. Some dealers provide the “EXPRESS LUBE SERVICES” just for oil change.
