2015 Ford Mustang details and photos revealed

2015 Ford Mustang GT
The 2015 Ford Mustang, the latest obssession of sports-car fans, has finally been revealed. And indeed, the new model is aiming to be more sports-car than muscle-car.

The 6th generation of the iconic Mustang is still several months away from actually hitting the road in any form, but its clear in these photos that Ford has ditched most of the retro styling cues for a more contemporary design. We’re still debating whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.

The new car retains the current Mustang’s 2720 mm wheelbase, and despite looking longer, it’s actually about the same. Width has increased though, with a rear track that has been stretched by 70 mm, and the car is 38 mm wider overall, as well as 35 mm lower than the current model.

The interior has received an upgrade as well, with dash materials that include metal, leather with contrast-stitching, and soft-touch plastics, with parts of the door panel and the transmission tunnel in hard plastics. Cabin volume is up considerably for front passengers, although it still looks useless for rear-benchers.

The Mustang is now offered with the optional MyFord Touch system for the first time. It is a rethought version, with a set of secondary analog controls for the a/c and audio.

The Mustang now also has a three-engine lineup. Joining the range will be a 305 hp 2.3-litre “EcoBoost” 4-cylinder turbo engine, aiming to please the European market. The 305 hp 3.7-litre V6 will remain as the base engine, while the GT will feature the 420 hp 5.0-litre “Coyote” V8. However, none of the power figures have been confirmed yet, and they’ll be released sometime next year. Rumour is weight has also been reduced by about 90 kg.

The Getrag 6-speed manual gearbox will be carried over, and it will be joined by a 6-speed automatic which will feature paddle-shifters for the first time.

The suspension has been completely redesigned, with a new four-wheel independent setup. The base car also gets 12.6-inch front and rear brake rotors, with two-pistons calipers in front and single-piston units on the back. EcoBoost models will get the same setup, but an optional Performance Pack upgrades that to 13.9-inch front and 13-inch rear rotors with four-piston front and single-piston rear calipers. The V8 models will get the EcoBoost’s Performance Pack brakes as standard, while the brake upgrade available on the GT will be Brembo, with 15-inch front rotors and six-piston calipers. Several wheel designs will be available, ranging from 18-inch to 20-inch in size.

Ford says there will be a range of new driving modes, such as snow/rain and performance modes that tweak the throttle response, steering weight and stability-control settings, all controllable via toggle switches. Other features include launch control for the V8 only, as well as options such as adaptive cruise control and blinb-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.

The new Mustang convertible will have a fabric top, and that it will be all electric, with quicker and quieter operation than on the current model.

The 2015 Ford Mustang really is all-new from the looks of it. The redesigned model isn’t expect to hit dealerships any time before winter next year, and even then, the GCC launch may be delayed further by demand elsewhere. If you are unbothered by its styling, this probably is the best Mustang ever.

Keep track of future prices and updates in the Ford buyer guide.

  1. i really like it – will be interesting to see whether they go nuts on the pricing..

  2. The interior is OK, it’s nice. And the car looks very different, I kind of like it. 🙂
    Let’s hope it’s priced reasonably :p

  3. Looks like crap. I like The GT86 more.

  4. great design

    I love it

  5. Love the exterior design.. and it seems the fit and finish of the interior has improved.

I don’t think there will be a major price increase. Fords been reasonable that way. AlTaher should just give us the 5 Years Unlimited mileage warranty that most of the other dealer are giving. Sticking to 3 years or 100,000kms warranty shows to me that the dealer doesn’t believe in their own product.

  6. looks like KIA and hundai but more sporty look

  7. Let’s see Whats the price they could offer on new Stangs 🙂 Knowing Al Tayer is not a Greedy dealer and sells all Fords at a reasonable cost !

  8. The ONLY American car I would LOVE to own…..1st generation Dodge Viper!! Everything else is not my cup of taste.

Although, the small redneck in me would to own an American truck 😀

  9. For me, Mustang is my dream car.. Mustang means Muscle… A guy like me, I like the the old tough muscular design. not the new SWEET sporty design…

  10. In the side view, it looks more like a combo of BMW Z series (front) and a Porsche 911 (back). Although from the front view and back view the car instils a Stang itself..

  11. lameee..but this will still sell somehow

  12. in mashin key be bazar miad ???

  13. Does anyone knows when exactly it will be released ?
