Audi S1 hatch launched in 3-door and 5-door forms

2015 Audi S1
Let’s just say, the hot-hatch segment just got hotter. And yes, the reason certainly has to be the new Audi S1. The supermini will show up at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show soon.

The small hatchback will be propelled by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder TFSI engine producing 228 hp and a fiery 370 Nm of torque. It will be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission and the power will be put to the ground by all four wheels thanks to Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The 3-door S1 will do the 0-100 kph run in 5.8 seconds and max out at 250 kph. There’s also a 5-door S1 Sportback version which will manage the 0-100 kph run in 5.9 seconds.

The Audi S1 will get an ‘S’-specific styling package which includes Xenon headlights, horizontally structured graphics and complementary paint job. The car will also ride on 17 or 18-inch alloys.

The interior receives the traditional Audi treatment. There’s heaps of leather within the dark themed interior. The driver is also treated with a 6.5-inch retractable information system and a Bose premium audio surround system.

It is unknown if the new Audi S1 is coming to the GCC or not. In any case, the S1 is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in the coming months. So far, only one variant of the regular Audi A1 is available in UAE, Saudi and Qatari showrooms.

Keep track of prices and updates in the Audi buyer guide.

  1. Why is it a joke? Its a perfect city car and a good answer to Merc A class….

  2. Wow this is one hot hatch. A good alternative to the already mighty Ford Focus ST if one wants luxury. Great to see BMW, Audi, Ford etc having only manual transmissions for some performance models.
