Long-term update: Our Range Rover’s headliner is the headline

Range Rover in Dubai
We’ve had our Range Rover for nearly 18 months now. When we bought it, it had some minor cosmetic flaws that we elected to leave as-is at the time, because they didn’t hinder the operation of the car. But we recently decided to keep it for longer than we initially anticipated, so we figured we’ll dress it up and restore its new-car vibe.

The headliner had been sagging and peeling from the rear; the fancy colour-coded metal-trimmed panel surrounding the driver-side seat controls was worn and breaking loose; the old wiper-blades were leaving huge streaks and the wiper-fluid tank had a minor leak, all from before we got the car.

So we got a nicely-padded headliner for Dhs 1400, a matching seat trim panel for Dhs 620, new wipers for Dhs 220 and a new tank for Dhs 425. An HID headlight bulb had also fizzled out, so that was another Dhs 300. Throw in Dhs 400 in labour, and that was a final total of Dhs 3365 from a garage called Premier Car Care in Al Quoz, Dubai.

Before that, we took up the “free check-up” offer by the dealer and got pricing for all those items, as well as a free computer reset. The alternative garage turned out to be 60% cheaper on average. However, if there ever is a software issue, the dealer will still be our first stop, as the independent garages all seem to lack any expertise on that front.

Now the car feels just that little bit newer. Considering the rest of the cabin trim, the upholstery and even the exterior paint has held up well, any casual observer would think our Vogue is less than a couple of years old.

  1. This is how all luxury car owners should treat their cars!

  2. looks great for an old rocker!

    enjoy driving it

  3. How much did u buy it for mash ?

  4. Did you have the whole headliner replaced? Did the garage use Range Rover fabric and colour or is it ‘similar’? Suffering with the same issue and not sure to go with OEM (double the price) or aftermarket.

Looks and feels like the material that was on before. Only thing is the new one has more padding. Headliners cannot be properly repaired, just replaced.

  6. Can you advise me w/c 2nd hand 4×4 is good to maintain & performs well ?
