The 2015 Porsche Cayenne has been revealed, receiving a minor facelift and engine upgrades. The new generation Cayenne will launch in five versions: Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel and, for the first time, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. The base V6 Cayenne is missing, but might be introduced later. The Cayenne S drops its V8 for a turbo V6, while the GTS is taking a likely-temporary hiatus.

The 2015 Cayenne gets a new front fascia, similar to the design of the Porsche Macan. The rear also gets new design taillamps and exhaust pipes.

In the interior, a new multifunction sport steering wheel featuring shift paddles is fitted as standard. Optional seat ventilation is now available for the first time.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid has a lithium-ion traction battery with an all-electric driving range of 18 to 36 km. The power of the electric motor has been more than doubled: from 47 hp to 95 hp. The combined fuel consumption is now 3.4 l/100 km. The 3.0-litre V6 supercharged engine (333 hp) and the electric motor (95 hp) produce a combined system power of 416 hp at 5,500 rpm and a total system torque of 590 Nm. Acceleration from 0-100 kph is accomplished in 5.9 seconds to a top speed of 243 kph. The maximum speed in all-electric mode is 125 kph.

The new Porsche-developed 3.6-litre V6 biturbo engine of the Cayenne S returns fuel consumption between 9.5 and 9.8 l/100 km. This represents one litre less than with the previous V8 engine. The biturbo V6 develops a maximum power of 420 hp at 6,000 rpm, a gain of 20 hp, and torque of 550 Nm, a gain of 50 Nm. With its standard eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission, the Cayenne S accelerates from 0-100 kph in just 5.5 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the previous Cayenne S. The vehicle’s top speed is 259 kph.

The Cayenne Turbo is powered by a 4.8-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that produces 520 hp and 750 Nm of torque. This lets the Cayenne Turbo accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is 279 kph. Fuel consumption is 11.5 l/100 km.

The 3.0-litre V6 engine in the Cayenne Diesel produces 245 hp and has a fuel consumption of 7.7 l/100 km. Thanks to 550 Nm of torque, the car can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 7.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 218 kph. The 4.2-litre V8 engine of the Cayenne S Diesel produces 385 hp and a torque of 850 Nm. From a standstill, it reaches 100 kph in 5.4 seconds. Its top speed is 252 kph with fuel consumption of 8.0 l/100 km.

The first vehicles will arrive in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE by October 2014.
